The generator project had initially begun in July where installation had started on the new generator and the old generator had been removed.
Although there was a generator at The Claridges previously, it was only powered common areas, where residents were largely affected by load shedding. The old generator room serves as . However this has since changed with the new generator in place, the new generator is said to take less than one minute to power up after a load shedding outage occurs.
The new generator has ample power to cover the whole of The Claridges building – this includes apartments, lifts and common property.
7 August 2015 was the first time that this generator had proved to be an essential asset to the Claridges as it automatically powered up in response to the electricity outage that occurred that evening. There are still the final steps that remain towards completion for the project to be finalised.
Progression is on the rise for the Claridges and the generator project has been a key role in the overall transformation of the complex.
